About the Photographer

As a native New Yorker,  Christopher Bliss has always found himself drawn to the many facets of cosmopolitan life. He finds his inspiration in urban skylines, and the challenging and invigorating life styles of cities, with their isolated moments of respite from contemporary demands.

His work reflects the insight of a broad artistic sensibility. Though always active in the field of photography, Chris began his career as a concert pianist having studied at the Vienna Academy of Music in Vienna, Austria, The Manhattan School of Music in New York City, and the University of Southern California in Los Angeles where he earned his Master’s degree in music.

As part of an ongoing project, Chris has been photographing New York on a regular basis since 1988 and has captured the many changing aspects of the city’s physical and cultural architecture. His New York calendars and posters are sold around the world in many museum shops and bookstores, and his work is represented by several galleries and is part of many private and corporate collections throughout the United States, Canada and Europe. Several of his works are part of the permanent collection of photographs at the Museum of the City of New York.

Chris' work has been published in innumerable magazines and publications both nationally and internationally. These include Time Magazine, Architectural Digest, Art and Antiques, Orange Coast Magazine, W Magazine and many others.

Today, Chris maintains residences on both the East and West Coasts of the United States and is in high demand as a commercial photographer. Some of his clients include:
