New York Landmarks

Photographing the landmarks of New York City is particularly challenging considering previous masters who captured these sites on film.  The challenge is to find new angles and ideas, whether looking at familiar sites such as the Empire State Building, the Chrysler Building, the Woolworth Building, Lincoln Center, Radio City, and Rockefeller Center, or documenting Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty in light of the added meaning they carry since the destruction of the World Trade Center. Shadows, seasons, the height of the sun in the sky, and the atmosphere on the street that accompanies physical transformations of the city all provide material for composition. The structures that define the skyline of the city define photographic statements as well.
